Joshua Lataif, 28, of Torrington was arrested at the Torrington Police Department on April 16, at approximately 8 p.m., and transported to Southington police. The warrant stemmed from a robbery at the Southington Target store.
The warrant alleges that on March 16, 2016, Lataif was being watched by Target’s loss prevention employee at the 600 Executive Blvd. store in Southington. Loss prevention observed Lataif conceal a DVD and a DVD player in his pants, at which time he headed toward the front of the store pushing a shopping cart.
Lataif then abandoned the shopping cart near the front of the store and then proceeded past all points of sale without attempting to pay for the DVD player which was still concealed in his pants. When confronted by loss prevention, Lataif broke free and got into an awaiting vehicle. As Lataif struggled with store employees, he dropped his wallet containing his identification.
Southington police processed and charged Lataif with third degree robbery and sixth degree larceny. He was held on a $10,000 bond with an April 7, 2016 court date.
