Brittany DeMasi
Police arrested a local woman for injuries sustained by an 11-month old girl. The investigation began when police were called by the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
DCF became involved when the 11-month old girl was brought to the Hospital of Central Connecticut, Bradley Memorial Hospital with numerous head injuries. Hospital officials were highly suspicious for abuse.
The investigation determined that the child had been solely in the care of her mother, Brittany DeMasi, 26, of Carter Lane in Southington, when she sustained numerous injuries to her face and head. DeMasi was not able to provide any explanation for these injuries. The warrant alleges that DeMasi neglected to provide adequate supervision.
On May 2, at 11:45 a.m., DeMasi turned herself in to Southington police after learning of the warrant. She was charged with risk of injury to a child. She was processed and released on a $5,000 bond with a court appearance the following day.
