Southington police are investigating an armed robbery at the Kaival Food Mart and Gulf Gas Station on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike. The robbery occurred a little after 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.

umped the counter and grabbed the clerk by the shirt, pulling him to the cash register telling him and forcing him to open the register. Once the cash register was opened the suspect grabbed the cash drawer and the cash under the drawer and fled the store. The suspect made away with approximately $180.
Police describe the suspect as. wearing brown just above the ankle work boots, black wind pants with a light colored stripe down the outside of both legs, a white colored hoodie, along with a black jacket turned inside out showing the color black that had a gray attached hood. A white tag can be seen attached to the rear of the jacket between the shoulder blade area of the suspect. The jacket was open in the front, unknown if zipper or button type and a turquoise blue ski type face mask that covered the lower half of the face just below the nose. The suspect wore what appeared to be baggy white socks or mittens taped with dark tape around the wrist area.
Later that night the Waterbury police Department located a cash register drawer in the garbage can of the WINNZ Gas and Goods located at 3484 East Main St., in Waterbury. It is believed that this is the register drawer from the Southington robbery.
Video footage from the WINNZ gas station showed a red or maroon Oldsmobile Alero with a rear spoiler. It also shows a white male exiting the Alero and is observed putting something into the trash can where the register drawer was found.
