John Sample
Southington police served three warrants at the Bristol Superior Court, GA #17 to a local man that was caught trying to escape from bail enforcement agents for an unrelated charge.
On March 17, John Sample, 29, of Southington was taken into custody while attending a scheduled court appearance at the Bristol court. Sample was in the Department of Correction custody prior to his appearance stemming from a failure to appear warrant.
On March 9, when bail enforcement agents attempted to take Sample into custody at his residence, he fled the scene on foot. Southington police were notified, and the local police joined the search. Sample continued to elude police, while four Southington schools were placed in “secure school status” during the chase.
Sample’s three Southington warrants stemmed from a Special Investigations Unit case that was opened in July 2015 after police received information that Sample was selling heroin in town. Based on this information, three controlled purchases of narcotics were made.
Sample was booked in the Bristol Court on three counts of selling narcotics (heroin). He was held on bonds totaling $225,000.
The warrants were ordered sealed at the time of the arrest and no further information will be released.
