On Friday, June 24, at approximately 7:08 p.m., Nicholas Maratea, 19, of Hamden turned himself into Southington Police for an active arrest warrant stemming from an incident during a prom at the Aqua Turf on May 28, 2016.
The warrant alleges that Maratea became involved in an argument after not being allowed to enter the prom because he was under the influence or alcohol and/or drugs. Officers were concerned that the Maratea may have mixed alcohol with medications, and he was going to be transported via ambulance to a medical facility for an evaluation.
Prior to transport, Maratea resisted officers’ attempts to escort him to the ambulance. He kicked two officers and attempted to bit another. He also spit on an AMR ambulance paramedic during this incident.
Maratea was processed and charged with interfering with an officer, assault of public safety, emergency medical, public transit, or health care personnel, and second degree breach of peace. He was released on a $1,500 bond and given a court appearance date of July 5, 2016 at Bristol Superior Court.
