Stephen Micalizzi
The Southington Police Department’s special investigations unit received information in May 2016 that Stephen Micalizzi, 35, of Southington was selling heroin in town. Based on the information, two controlled purchases were made by police and two arrest warrants were issued by Bristol Superior Court.
On Tuesday, Sept. 6, at approximately 6:04 p.m., police made contact with Micalizzi while investigating complaints about drug sales in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts, at 1843 Meriden Waterbury Tpk. in Southington. During the course of the investigation, officers learned there were warrants for Micalizzi’s arrest.
Micalizzi was handcuffed, but he turned and ran away from the arresting officer. Police caught up to Micalizzi after a short chase, and he was secured in the rear of a cruiser. As the investigation continued, officers located a straw containing a white powder residue which tested positive for cocaine. The straw was found in a cigarette pack.
Micalizzi was transported to police headquarters where the two warrants were served. Micalizzi was processed and charged with to counts of selling heroin and he was held on a $100,000 bond for each warrant ($200,000 total). He was scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Sept. 7, 2016.
The warrants are sealed and no further information will be released.
In addition to the warrants, Micalizzi was charged with interfering with a police investigation, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. He was given an appearance date of Sept. 7, 2016.
