At the September Police Commission Police Meeting, Retired Officer George Trostel was honored with a proclamation by the Southington Board of Police Commissioners for his work with the Southington police Explorer/Cadet Post.

Trostel began his work as a Supernumerary officer in the post and then stayed on as a civilian adviser after his retirement. During his time with the post George assisted dozens of local children to pursue careers in EMS, Fire service, and police related fields. With his long and distinguished police career, Trostel was able to pass along his knowledge to the explorers in the classroom and also in practical skills scenarios.
Trostel served as an advisor for the Southington Police Explorers/Cadets from 2004 through 2016.
He was instrumental in raising awareness and recognition for the Southington Police Department Explorer/Cadet post to the state level and regional level. Trostel also donated his off-duty time to chaperone the post during both stations days and at the yearly cadet police academy.
Under Trostel’s guidance, the Southington Police Department Explorer/Cadet won numerous awards at these events.
